For a while now, I have been getting questions about the differences between the UK and US covers of The BDB series.
So today I will list and compare the covers , so you can see for yourself!
I will also include the different bindings they come in, just incase you want to know , haha!

why different covers on the same book?
The short answer is: Different Publishers!
In the UK , The BDB series , ALL of J.R Ward´s series for that matter , is published by Piatkus books.
They started publishing her books in 2008 , and they have promptly been publishing every book since.
I have always thought that Piatkus does a better job at matching the models on the covers with the actual character s, than the US does.
Different bindings
Piatkus have published The BDB books as trade paperback , regular paperback and hardcover.
The first 9 books are only available in paperback , and Piatkus have no plans on re-issuing them into hardcover. Which is sad , since they have published the books in hardcover from “Lover at last ” and up.
US VS UK Covers
So let´s start withe the BDB books!

BCE= This means that your book has been printed by a ” Book Club”. Usually an imprint company that the original publishers own. Signet is owned by NAL, who again is owned by Berkley Books ( former Penguin Random House).
These books are usually printed with cheaper materials than the original publishing house.
Trade paper= a bigger sized version of a regular paperback.
Dark Lover
US:
This book only available in hardcover in the US . You have the BCE edition ,where Dark Lover and Lover Eternal is combined into 1 book! This is the first edition of Dark Lover EVER to bee as a hardcover. Same With Lover Eternal , them being combined .
Dark Lover was then reprinted into a single hardcover book in 2012, as a collectors edition. Both are rare and super expensive .Also available in paperback.
Dark Lover actually have 2 US covers. It was given a new cover in 2014.
UK:
only available in paperback.
Has 2 different covers.
Lover Eternal
US:
Only available in hardcover in the US. You have the BCE edition ,where Dark Lover and Lover Eternal is combined into 1 book.This is the first edition of Lover Eternal EVER to be as a hardcover. Same dark Lover , them being combined .
Lover Eternal was then reprinted into a single hardcover book in 2012, as a collectors edition. Both are rare and expensive .
Lover Eternal actually have 2 US covers. It was given a new cover when the reprint came out in 2012. Both are rare and super expensive .Also available in paperback.
UK:
Only available in paperback.
Has 2 different covers.

only available as hardcover in the US. You can get the BCE or the re-printed collector´s edition. Both are rare . Also available in paperback.

if the BCE and Collectors reprint are both rare and expensive then are all the hardbacks worth buying? I guess I’m confused on which is better to buy.

I would get the collectors editions over the bce. As they’re better quality and they all match in size ⚔️
